For a second I thought this might be a Betsey Johnson bag given how over the top it is! It’s definitely not something I would consider carrying (the boldest I get is a solid bright color), but thisJimmy Choo Scarlet Glazed Canvas Tote is so wonderfully outrageous I couldn’t resist sharing it. The pattern on this canvas is wild – literally. The leopard print is dotted with starfish, swaths of magenta, chains, a stiletto and even an open-winged soaring bird. Snake skin and straw may not sound all that stunning, but somehow, someway, Jimmy Choo makes it work and not just work, but sizzle! This Diego Straw Tote had me at the double shoulder fuschia snake straps, but toss in the embellished snake head and tail detail and I’m going all sorts of crazy over this stunner! The cotton lining, inside open pocket and belt closure make this bag not only gorgeous but functional, in my book that is always a plus (not always a priority of course). Get this purse at Saks Fifth Avenue for $975.

The Versace label has always personified excess and the glamorous life. A recent project spearheaded by Donatella Versace however, has turned that luxury around to help others. In collaboration with the Whitney Museum of Art, the designer created “Art Unites”. The organization donated art supplies to sick children around the world.designer bags 

The finished artwork, based on the “Friendship” theme were printed on Versace tote bags. Proceeds of the handbags benefit the Starlight Foundation and the One Foundation.

Donatella Versace, muse to her late brother, as well as several brilliant Saturday Night Live tributes. The Versace collection always brings to mind, brightly draped Roman Goddesses, golden Medusa heads and an opulent Italian lifestyle. For next Fall 2010 however, the house of Donatella seemed to take some notes from her American counterparts. The runway displayed a lot of very tailored pieces, in dark colors as well as some bright blues, yellows and oranges. To off-set the more classic look of the tailoring, there were some rock n’ roll touches of slashed shoulders and cutouts, as well as body conscious zipper details.
